It is with a profound sense of loss and enduring love that we announce the passing of John Albert Davis, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend. John left this world unexpectedly on April 9, 2024, in Tucker, Georgia. Born on January 24, 1946, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, John was a beacon of knowledge, kindness, and generosity throughout his 78 years.

After graduating high school at Georgia Military Academy, now known as Woodward Academy, John, a man of exceptional intellect and curiosity, embarked on his educational journey at Emory University in the Pre-Med Program in 1964. His passion for science led him to Georgia State University, where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology-Chemistry in 1970. Always seeking to expand his knowledge, he then pursued a Master of Science in Entomology-Biochemistry at the University of Georgia under a National Science Foundation Fellowship. Later in life, John's love for culinary arts took him to Le Cordon Bleu in Atlanta, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Associate of Science degree in Culinary Arts in 2005.

His diverse career path reflected his multifaceted interests. John's professional life began at International Minerals & Chemical Corporation as a Soil Testing Lab Technician in East Point, Georgia, where he honed his precision and analytical skills. He later served as a Production Control Manager at Deering Milliken in Spartanburg, South Carolina, from 1970 to 1973. John's entrepreneurial spirit shone through when he became the Co-Owner and Corporate Manager of Decatur Tool Rental in Decatur, Georgia; a family-owned enterprise. After retiring from Decatur Tool Rental in 2000, he successfully combined his scientific knowledge with his culinary expertise to delight and nourish many by becoming a chef at The Ritz Carlton, at Lake Oconee, Georgia.

John's interests were as broad as his career. He was an accomplished woodworker and an avid traveler, exploring cultures and cuisines around the globe. His keen interest in technology kept him at the forefront of computer operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting; skills he generously shared with others.

Family was the cornerstone of John's life. He is survived by his siblings: brothers Sanford Eugene Davis, Jr. (wife Nancy) and Paul Raymond Davis (wife Cindy) and sister Rachel Ann Davis along with several loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Sanford Eugene Davis, Sr., and Julia Kassery Davis, as well as his sister Carole Davis Kauffman. The love and wisdom he shared with his family will continue to guide them.

Those who knew John would describe him as selfless, intelligent, and loving-a man who put the needs of others before his own, and who approached life with a warm and open heart. His profound impact on those around him was evident in every relationship he nurtured, every project he undertook, and every meal he expertly crafted.

John's life was a testament to the power of curiosity, the beauty of lifelong learning, and the importance of following one's passions. As we remember John Albert Davis, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with purpose, joy, and love. His memory will remain a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing this remarkable man.
