Hoffmann, John Charles

John C. Hoffmann, 94, of Tucker, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and graduated from Boys High. He served on the USS Sangamon, CVE26 during WWII. He was a retiree of Sears Roebuck and Company. He was an active member of Clarkston United Methodist Church and various church and civic organizations. He was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America for over 33 years, where he received various awards including Order of the Arrow and the Silver Beaver. He is survived by his wife, Frances; daughter, Beth; sister in law, Alice Hoffmann; sister in law and brother in law, Peggy and Paul Sharian; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov.19 at 11am, from the chapel of A.S.Turner and Sons, with Reverend Karen Lyons officiating. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. Family will receive friends Tuesday, Nov.18 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Clarkston United Methodist Church, 3919 Church St., Clarkston, Ga. 30021. A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
