John Sidney Crawford, of Danbury, Texas and Roswell, Georgia, passed away at the age of 86, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta GA. "Sid", as he was called throughout his life, was born on October 31,1938 to Jack Newton Crawford and Maurine Carroll Crawford in Gatesville, TX.
Sid was a longtime resident of Danbury, moving his family from Austin to Lake Jackson in 1966, before settling them in Danbury in 1972. He joined The Dow Chemical Company in 1966, working as an apprentice, then as a Machinist across multiple plants for 30 years, until he retired from Dow in 1996. His favorite pastimes were watching Nature and World War II documentaries, fishing and listening to Hank Williams music. Sid had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing stories, jokes and good food with family and friends. One of his favorite things to do after he retired, was to sit outside at Bridge Bait on the Intracoastal Canal and watch the ships, barges, fishermen and birds.
He collected maps, pocketknives and kept virtually every greeting card he ever received throughout his life. He loved driving and road trips, driving vehicles for Danbury Fish Farms and Leo Martin Chevrolet, after retirement. In his later years, he enjoyed memorable trips and adventures to New York, Georgia, Las Vegas, Munich, Stuttgart, Paris and Normandy with his family.
He is preceded in death by Theresa Ann Crawford (Drynan), his beloved wife of 54 years; his parents Jack and Maurine Crawford, and his sister Joan Graham (Crawford).
