Jonathan O'Neal Merritt

Jonathan “Jon” O'Neal Merritt, 58, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017.

Jon was a member of Peachcrest Baptist Church. During his working career, he was employed in construction, manufacturing, at several cabinet shops, and later an upholstery shop. Jon enjoyed nature and his 2 cats. He spent time bow hunting, bird-watching, and especially loved fishing. Although challenged in his life, Jon deeply loved his family and the Lord.

Survivors include his mother, Estelle R. deJarnette; brother, Mark Merritt; sisters, Jan Brumbelow and her husband, Rick, and Carol Minotti and her husband, Mike; step-sisters, Linda Marcet, Laura Morgan, and Leila Peacock and her husband, Joe; nieces, Elizabeth Darlene Cummings and Cristina Minotti; nephews, Michael Brumbelow and his wife, Courtney, and Michael Minotti; great nieces, Meadow and Charm Caswell; great nephews, Rick Smith and his wife, Andrea, Chase Cummings, and Cole and Jack Brumbelow; and many more loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4th at 1:00 p.m. with a chapel service at 2:00 p.m., at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Norcross City Cemetery.
