Joseph John Lasky, 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Decatur, Georgia.

Born on July 15, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Joe lived a fulfilling life. He spent decades working as a pharmacist for the Veterans Administration, where he cared deeply for the veteran community and worked tirelessly in service to others throughout his career.

Joe was married to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Jeanette Lasky (née Bylina), who loved him dearly. Together they built a life filled with devotion, family, and enduring partnership. They spent a lot of time traveling the world together and hanging out with life-long friends. Once Joe made a friend that bond usually lasted, a testament to his character and fun-loving nature.

He was preceded in death by his father: Joseph Samuel Lasky, his mother: Bernice Lasky (née Ballek), and his brother: Norbert J. Lasky.

He is survived by his wife: Jeanette, his daughter: Jaclyn Schuon and her husband: Jason Schuon, his beloved grandson: Orion Schuon, and his cherished grand-dog: Percy.

Joe is also survived by his goddaughter and niece: Jody King (née Lasky), her husband: Kevin King, and their children: Morgan and Josh King.

He loved playing cards, college football, a good bourbon or beer, and spending time working on puzzles. He was a best friend to his daughter and son-in-law (whom he very much considered a son) even though he relished tirelessly beating them in cribbage.

He will be remembered for his joyful spirit, steady presence, kindness, generosity, and the deep love he had for his family.

His memory will live on in the stories shared, traditions carried forward, and the many lives he touched over the years.

A celebration of life will be held in Chicago.
