Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Joy Diane (Dinka) Lewis, who left us on July 27, 2026. Born on January 6, 1961, in Atlanta, Georgia, Diane was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dorothy Lewis, and her sister, Jenny Melinda Lewis. She is survived by her cherished siblings, Patricia Marie Hood, Carol Denise Sanjurjo, and Terri Lynn Bristol, along with her adored nieces and nephews.

Diane, a graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, was a dedicated and compassionate registered nurse whose career spanned numerous specialties, including emergency room care, pediatrics, and hospice. Her colleagues and patients alike knew her as a beacon of empathy and warmth, whose gentle touch and kind words could ease even the heaviest of hearts. Diane's dedication to her profession was matched only by her commitment to making those around her feel valued and welcome.

Outside of her professional life, Diane was a vibrant soul with a love for reading and enjoying classic television shows. She had a knack for storytelling that brought laughter and joy to those around her. A devoted member of the Church at the Creek in McKinney, Texas, Diane found great comfort and community in her faith.

Diane's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Texas Presbyterian Health Hospital in both Plano and Dallas, for the compassionate care they provided during her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Diane's memory to the American Diabetes Association.

A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. Though Diane may no longer be with us, her spirit and love will continue to guide us. Her memory will remain a treasured part of our lives, and her influence will be felt in the countless lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.
