Judith Ann Jackson
Judith Ann Jackson (nee Almand) died on April 15, 2024 in Atlanta, GA. Born on June 12, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of Joe M. Almand, Sr. and Ethel Gordon Power Almand.
Judy was a Decatur native who was always active in her church, first as a pastor's wife in Abbeville, Louisiana and Atlanta and later as a VBS leader, choir member, and avid Bible study participant. She was a member of Rainbow Park Baptist Church and Briarlake Baptist Church, and later joined First Baptist Atlanta. She served as part of Junior League for over 10 years and later was a Junior League sustainer; she managed the Mary Gay house as part of her Junior League service.
She worked in the family burlap business in Decatur for several years and in her later life was a loving grandmother to Anne, Paul, Daniel, Isabella, Ivan, Jack, and Christopher.
Judy was an avid seamstress who began sewing at age 10, and enjoyed needlepoint, embroidery, and cross-stitch. She loved to cook and several of her recipes are considered family treasures.
She majored in French at Agnes Scott College and remained a proud and involved "Scottie" her entire life. She taught French briefly after graduating from college, and always enjoyed teaching French words to her children and grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her children, Karen Jackson Le Morvan, Laura Jackson Taylor, and Bryan Edward Jackson, and her grandchildren Anne Joelle Jeannette Le Morvan, Paul Georges Laurent Le Morvan, Daniel Alexandre Abraham Le Morvan, Isabella Brynn Jackson, Ivan Daniel Jackson, Christopher Nicholas Taylor, and Jackson Nathaniel Taylor, her sister Mary Susan Almand, and her brother Joe Martin Almand, Jr., as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, April 22 at A. S. Turner and Sons in Decatur, with visitation at 10:30 am and interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Judy's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL, 60601, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Avenue, Suite 1100-N, Bethesda, MD, 20814.
