Katherine Francis Shrader

Mrs. Katherine Francis Shrader, age 101, peacefully departed this life on February 25, 2026. Born on September 23, 1924, in Bluefield, Virginia, she was the cherished daughter of Kim and Lillie Barker. Katherine was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Elmo Shrader, and together they built a life filled with love and family.

Katherine will be remembered as a talented seamstress whose craftsmanship and attention to detail brought warmth to many through her creations. She took pride in her work and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Katherine's legacy will live on through her surviving children, son James Shrader and daughter Janeanette Parker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Shrader, as well as her beloved children Wayne Shrader, David Shrader, Yvonne McCord, and Frances Tamayko. Katherine was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, whose spirit touched all who knew her.

A public viewing will take place on March 4, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at AS Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, allowing friends and family to gather in remembrance and celebration of her remarkable life. Following the viewing, a funeral service honoring Katherine will be held at 12:00 PM at AS Turner Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at Dawn Memorial Park at 1:00 PM, where she will be laid to rest in the serene surroundings she loved.

Katherine's family invites all who knew and loved her to join in this heartfelt farewell as they honor the memory of a woman who embodied grace, kindness, and an unwavering love for her family.
