Kay Carr Sobers

Kay Carr Sobers passed away on August 23, 2008. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She is survived by her husband, Walter C. Sobers and son, Charles B. Sobers and preceded in passing by her sister Mary Margaret Carr. She is a graduate or the University of Alabama and the University of Pennsylvania and member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She established the physical therapy department at the University Hospital in Birmingham, was Director of the Carraway Meyer Rehabilitation Service for Disabled United Mine Workers, and Director of physical and occupational therapy for the state of Delaware. She was regional Vice President of the Mid-Atlantic Rehabilitation Services. She was a member and president of the Briarcliff Woods Garden Club and of the Master Gardeners of Georgia. Funeral services will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Briarcliff Road at 1:00 PM on August 26,2008. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church or Families First. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
