Listen to Obituary

Kelly T. Harris, 74, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones and the music she had cherished throughout her life.

Born on May 24, 1952, in Athens, Georgia, Kelly was the daughter of Bennie Mae Adair and Dr. William Clyde Taff. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Aubrey Phillip Harris, Sr. ("Phil"); her parents; her brother, Tommy; and her two youngest sons, Christopher Holt Harris and Lance Corporal Michael Warren Harris, USMC.

Following her husband's death in 2001, Kelly assumed leadership of the family business, Harris Furniture, where she continued to build upon the legacy they had created together. Through her resilience, compassion, and dedication, she guided the business forward for more than two decades. She considered her employees an extension of her family and was known for always putting her customers and employees first.

Family was at the center of Kelly's life. She loved fiercely, cared deeply, and devoted herself to those she loved. Strong-willed and fiercely independent, Kelly possessed a stubborn determination that became one of her greatest strengths. Despite enduring the heartbreaking loss of her husband and two sons, she continued forward with remarkable courage.

Kelly found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved tending her garden, where she grew beautiful tomatoes, strawberries, peppers, and other vegetables. She was an avid animal lover, especially of her beloved cats, and she filled her home with music from The Beatles and Yanni to Mannheim Steamroller during the Christmas season.

She also loved shopping and what she affectionately called "virtual decorating," imagining future projects and possibilities for her home-whether or not they ever came to fruition.

Christmas was especially dear to Kelly, who delighted in creating a home filled with decorations, gifts, and lasting memories for her family. She also cherished annual trips to Fernandina Beach, games of Rummikub, and, in her later years, spending quiet time at home in her garden and with her pets.

Kelly is survived by her sons, Aubrey Phillip Harris, Jr., and Benjamin Adair Harris; her sisters, Terry Mayberry, Tracey Chance, and Kristy Radar; her brothers, Bill Taff and Ben Taff; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. EDT at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia 30033. A celebration of Kelly's life will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. EDT in the funeral home's chapel.

In accordance with her final wishes, Kelly will be privately laid to rest at a later date at Dallas Memory Gardens in Dallas, Georgia, alongside her grandparents, Opal Mae Lambert and William Benjamin Adair, and her Uncle Clarence Lambert.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Coffee Cause for Paws in Douglas, Georgia, in honor of Kelly's lifelong love of animals and her compassion for pets in need of loving homes. The family also encourages everyone to honor Kelly's memory by extending kindness to others and cherishing time with the people-and animals-they love.

Kelly will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
