Kenneth Vincent Meyer

Born December 28, 1925

Died July 13, 2024

Ken was born in Torrington CT and lived there with his wife of 76 years, Elsie, raising their family of two daughters, Carolyn Dranginis (Madison CT) and Melanie Meyer-Delin (Johns Creek GA). Prior to his marriage to his high school sweetheart, Ken served as a Signalman for the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII and was modest about being witness to a kamikaze attack in very close range to his LST.

Ken was proud to have served the city of Torrington as a fireman throughout his career. After retiring, he and Elsie split their time between Asheville, NC and Ft. Myers FL. They enjoyed socializing and volunteering at local hospitals there. In 2004, Ken & Elsie moved to Park Springs in Stone Mountain GA where they cherished many friendships and activities. Ken helped run the community store and was passionate about the annual Employees Appreciation Fund which benefitted from the proceeds of the store. He also loved assisting with audiovisuals for the entertainment programs at Park Springs. He never missed a musical program!

Ken leaves a loving family behind on earth including his 2 daughters, son in laws, Pete Delin and Frank Dranginis, 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He danced at all of his grandchildren's weddings!

Funeral arrangements will be made at St. Stephen's the Martyr Church in Lilburn, GA in early October. Interment of ashes will follow at The Georgia National Cemetery with the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Park Springs Employee Appreciation Fund, Attn. Kay Godwin.
