Reverend Lucius H. Edmondson, III, more affectionately known as Brother Luke, Age 91 of McDonough, Georgia passed away in his home on March 8, 2026, from natural causes. He was born in Decatur, Georgia and grew up there and was a graduate of Decatur High School where he met his wife-to-be, Miss Ethel Gregg. He enjoyed various sports at Decatur High and was an excellent baseball player for pitching and playing first base. After attending North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served two years on active duty and an additional six years in the Marine Reserves. He left the Marine Corps and worked at Southern Bell in Decatur where he and Ethel raised their daughter Donna and son Eric until retirement. Luke was an avid hunter and fisherman and retired to his dream country home in McDonough, Georgia where he lived with Ethel for almost fifty years.
Luke grew up active in the Baptist Church and had a strong personal relationship with the Lord. While working at Southern Bell he started Team Jesus Motorcross as an outlet for preaching the gospel and evangelizing on the racetrack with his son Eric who was an integral part of the team and ministry. Luke began to reach out to other venues for ministry including prisons and jails, working both independently and with local churches. He founded Team Jesus Ministries to spread the Gospel and to encourage other believers to evangelize. Team Jesus Ministries continues their mission today and has spread across the nation and are deeply imbedded in jails and prisons around the greater Atlanta area as well. Through his ministry, Reverend Edmondson became the Chaplin at the Henry County Jail and served there for many years.
