Major Patsey Ruth Brewer

Major Patsy Ennis Brewer passed away at Dekalb Medical Center, on Sunday evening, March 13, 2011, as family and friends were gathered around her bed singing 'We are standing on Holy ground'. Being a retired Salvation Army officer and ordained minister, her passing is known as being "Promoted to Glory".

Patsy Ennis was born on August 21, 1933 in Concord, NC. She married Kenneth Brewer on January 1, 1952. They were both ordained as ministers in The Salvation Army in 1955. She served with her husband, Major Kenneth Brewer in locations throughout the Southern territory, among them Atlanta and Albany, Georgia, Birmingham, AL, Washington DC, Baltimore, MD, Dallas, TX, Orlando, FL, and Louisville, KY. They retired from active service on June 30, 1997, as Divisional Leaders for the Kentucky and Tennessee. Major Kenneth Brewer was Promoted to Glory on April 15, 2005.

Major Brewer was a gentle spirit, and a lady of grace. The joy of her life was her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a dear friend to many. She is survived by her three children: Major Sheila Brewer Lanier (Atlanta, GA) Kenneth Brewer, Jr. (Atlanta, GA) and Cynthia Brewer-Gordon (Charlotte, NC) Charlotte, NC, a sister; Barbara Oliver (Drexel NC) as well as extended family and friends, including foster daughter Major Evelyn & Larry Repass of Newnan, GA. . She had six grandchildren, Blake & Jill Lanier (Atlanta, GA), Brooke Lanier Dao and Daniel Dao (Smyrna, GA), Alexandra Brewer and Courtney Lawrence (Denver CO), and Caitie and Andrew Gordon
( Charlotte, NC)

The Celebration of Life Service for Major Patsy Brewer will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 18, 2011 at The Salvation Army Atlanta Temple Corps, 2090 N. Druid Hills Rd., NE, Atlanta, GA. 30329 (phone 404-486-2800). The family will receive visitors from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in The Fireside Room.
