Mamie Lou Schreeder

January 25, 1933 — July 13, 2012

A true southern bell, passed away, on Friday, July 13, 2012. Mamie L. Stepp Schreeder of Loganville, Georgia, was born Mamie Lou Lewis on January 25, 1933 in Ellijay, Georgia. At age 10 she would meet Marion Belle Stepp, who would become her "lifelong best friend", and "other sister". The two would marry brothers. Mamie would help raise Marion's five kids who would forever know her as "second mom". Mamie was married to her first love, Carl Howard Stepp, for 42 years until his death in 1993. Mamie married Dr. John Marvel Schreeder, the man who would show her the love she so deserved, for 13 years until his death in 2010. Mamie is survived by six nieces, three nephews, one great-grand niece, and three great grand nephews all of whom she adored, and all of whom knew her not only as an aunt, but also as "friend". She is also survived by her favorite Aunt, Aimee Parks; her sister Willie Calhoun; and brother J.W. Lewis. Mamie was always very active in the Order Of The Eastern Star. She was a member of the Glenwood Hills Chapter in Decatur, Georgia and a Worthy Matron from 1978-1979. She leaves many friends both deceased and living from this beloved organization. Fly towards the light, our beautiful Mamie. It's ok now. A funeral service will be held today Sunday, July 15, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons with Rev. Wallace Parks officiating.
