Margaret Miller

June 29, 1945 — April 18, 2025

Margaret Brooks Pittman Miller (Peggy), 79, passed away on April 18, 2025, in Atlanta, GA.

Peggy was born on June 29, 1945, in Atlanta, GA, to Brooks Pittman and Margaret Long Pittman. She grew up in Carrollton, GA, and graduated from Central High School in Carroll County in 1965. She celebrated her high school graduation with a trip to Ireland and Scotland, which remained a treasured memory throughout her life.

Peggy met her husband, Richard Miller, when they both worked at Atlanta Gas Light Company. They married in 1971 and had two children, Dorothy and William. She was proud of her children.

The family lived in Douglasville for several years before settling in Atlanta in 1990. She enjoyed gardening, and her beds of irises were blooming at the time of her death. She owned several beloved pet cats over the years and loved to be surrounded by the color purple.

Peggy was involved in several churches throughout her life, including Carrollton Presbyterian during her youth. She was active with family ministry at Douglasville First Presbyterian and enjoyed regional travel with the women from Druid Hills Baptist after her children were grown. She was most recently a member of Emory Presbyterian Church, where she valued the friendships and support from her women's circle.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Miller, and her parents, Brooks and Margaret Pittman. She is survived by her son William of Atlanta, her daughter Dorothy of Decatur, her sister Dottie Pittman (David Adams) of Carrollton, and her niece and nephew, Margaret and Kenneth Adams.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Albert's House personal care home and Agape Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to Peggy in the last months of her life.

A memorial service for Peggy will be held on May 10, 2025, at 11 am, Emory Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow the service. Friends and relatives are invited to attend and to wear purple in honor of Peggy.

Burial will take place in City Cemetery, Carrollton, GA, in a private ceremony.

Memorial donations can be made in Peggy's name to Fur Kids or Emory Presbyterian Church.
