Marion Lester 'Perk' Perkins, age 95, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025.
Born on February 11, 1930, in Avondale Estates, Georgia, Marion was a lifelong resident of the area. It was there he was raised and met the love of his life, Eleanor. After serving in the Navy, Marion and Eleanor were wed and together they built a home and family rooted in love and unwavering devotion to their family.
A true sports enthusiast, Marion found great enjoyment in cheering for his favorite teams - the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. But above all, his greatest passion was his family. His love and dedication to them never wavered, and his presence in their lives was a steady source of strength and warmth.
Marion was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Geiger (Ken) of Bethlehem, GA and his son, Phillip Perkins (Julie) of Jefferson, GA. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Trent Geiger, Emily Geiger Mercier (Bryan), Jonathon Geiger (Natalie), Katie Perkins Kennedy (Brett), and Rachel Perkins Hoppe (Daniel). Marion was also blessed with six great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor Perkins, his parents Elmer and Lois Perkins, and his sister, Mildred Mann.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, 2773 N. Decatur Rd. Decatur, GA 30033, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM. A private burial will follow at Indian Creek Cemetery in Clarkston, Georgia.
Marion's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
