In Loving Memory of Mary "Jean" Azar

Mary "Jean" Azar passed peacefully into the arms of heaven on July 9, 2025.

Jean was a gentle, kind, compassionate, and intelligent woman whose quiet strength and playful humor touched all who knew her.

Her greatest joy was her family, the heart of her world. She poured boundless love into every moment spent with them. She was devoted to her husband of 58 years, her daughters, and her grandchildren. She created a loving home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.

Over the years, Jean was an active and engaged member of her community, participating in numerous garden, bridge, civic, and book clubs. She had a deep love of musicals, the theater, and dining out.

Jean was born and raised in Dallas, Pennsylvania. She attended Penn State and graduated from Wilkes University in 1958 where she was honored as Homecoming Queen. After graduation she moved to New York City and then Washington, DC where she taught elementary school. It was there she met John, who was stationed nearby while serving in the military. Together, they built a beautiful life in Atlanta.

She is survived by her husband, John, daughters, Elizabeth and Lisa and grandsons, Ryan and Alex, sisters-in-law, Dana and Millie, brother-in-law, Gary and nieces, and nephews and their children. She was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Mary Broody, brothers Bob, George and Wesley.

Jean's grace, love, and quiet wisdom will be deeply missed.
