Mary Frances Sargent Davis

Born in Huntingdon, Tennessee, to Earl and Jennie Lee Brownlee Sargent on December 20, 1926. The family moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1937, where she graduated from the Peabody Demonstration School High School in June 1944. Four years later, Mary graduated from the University of Tennessee, having majored in Spanish and English. During college, she enrolled in a study program sponsored by the Ohio State University. She spent three months in Mexico City, where she met her future husband, Jim Davis, an Ohio State University student in the same program. They were married in Nashville on August 28, 1948.

The couple moved to Decatur, Georgia, in 1949 and became parents to three children: James.Kenyon Davis, Jeffrey Scott Davis, and Susan Sargent Davis. Susan died in 1984. Throughout more than seventy-five years in Decatur, Mary has been active in church and community affairs, including the First Baptist Church of Decatur, Joy Sunday School Class, Readers' Club book club, Jr. League of DeKalb County, and neighborhood civic organizations.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM before the service.
