Mary Ann Hardin, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on December 14, 1948, in Atlanta, Mary Ann devoted her life to her family, who were her greatest joy and inspiration.
During her adolescence, Mary Ann lived in the Coney Island area of Brooklyn, New York, where she embraced the vibrant culture of the city before later returning to Georgia. As a beloved preschool teacher's aide at Slaton Elementary in the Summerhill neighborhood, she brought warmth and creativity to her classroom, nurturing young minds with patience and love. Her contagious and warm smile brightened the days of everyone around her. In addition to her teaching career, she worked at French's Ice Cream Company, where her friendly demeanor made her a favorite among colleagues. Yet, her most cherished role was that of a mother and grandmother, where her love and laughter created a nurturing environment for her family.
One of Mary Ann's fondest memories was the time spent with her daughter, Vickie, enjoying evenings out listening to country music and sharing delicious meals. These moments were filled with laughter and showcased her vibrant personality. Mary Ann had a unique way of calling strangers "baby," making everyone feel special, and she always believed she was the biggest star in the room, lighting up every gathering with her joyful spirit.
Mary Ann is survived by her sister, Carolyn Brown; her sister, Martha Woods of Williamson, Georgia; her daughter, Vickie Hardin; her sons, James Ronald Hardin Jr. and Tommy Meadows Jr.; her nieces, Amanda Brown and Melody Stafford; her nephew, Wilbur Davis Jr.; and her adored grandsons and great-grandsons, Gerald Perriman Jr., Jace Meadows, Trei Perriman, and grandnephew King Brown.
A service to honor Mary Ann's life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at A.S. Turner Funeral Home, located at 2773 N Decatur Rd, Decatur, GA 30033.
Mary Ann will be remembered for her genuine spirit, unwavering support, and the laughter she shared with those she loved. Her legacy of kindness will continue to resonate in the lives of her family and friends.
