Melton Jesse Blalock

October 30, 1932 — January 10, 2024

Melton Jesse Blalock, beloved husband, father, and respected member of the community, passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 91. He was born on October 30, 1932, to Zula Ellis Blalock and Jessie Melton Blalock.

Melton was a man of great character, integrity, and a strong work ethic. Raised by his mother, he learned the value of hard work from a young age, which shaped his life and the way he approached every endeavor.

Melton attended and graduated from Clarkston High School, Clarkston, GA. He was a 4-letter athlete, lettering in football, basketball, baseball, and golf.

In September 1952, Melton married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Clay and together they built a beautiful life full of love, joy, and cherished memories. Their marriage was a testament to their enduring commitment and partnership that lasted over 67 years, until Joyce's passing in 2018.

Melton's life was characterized by hard work, dedication, and a passion for his various pursuits. After his honorable service as a Corporal in the United States Army from March 1953 to March 1955, Melton began his career at Irvindale Farm Dairy and later at Coble Dairy, where he contributed his skills and expertise. In 1980, he decided to embark on a new path, transitioning to become the Director of Purchasing for Infax, Inc. His commitment and professionalism were evident throughout his tenure, and he eventually retired from Infax, Inc. in 2001.

Outside of his professional life, Melton found solace and joy in gardening and landscaping. He had a green thumb and a talent for transforming outdoor spaces into beautiful havens of tranquility and natural beauty. His passion for gardening was evident in the vibrant colors and fragrant blooms that adorned his own yard, as well as in the gardens he created for others to enjoy.

In retirement, Melton also had a passion for sports and enjoyed attending University of Georgia Football games, cheering on his favorite team. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and found great pleasure in watching their games. Above all, Melton cherished the opportunity to attend his grandchildren's sporting events and activities, where he could support and encourage them in their passions.

Melton is survived by his brother Hoyt Blalock, sister in laws, Darlene Tarleton (Billy, deceased), Patricia Armstrong (Eddie), his sons Steve (Nancy), Stan (Dedra), Phil (Monica), daughter Karen Blalock Davis (Mike), eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Melton leaves behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of sharing in his life's journey.
