Melvin (Mel) Lewis Mitchell, Jr

Melvin Lewis Mitchell (Mel) of Conyers died Monday, May 16, 2011. He is survived by his wife Deidra Weldon Mitchell; son, Shane Mitchell; his parents, beloved mother, Sara Mitchell of Lilburn and Mel and Sue Mitchell, Sr. of Newnan, GA; brothers and sisters, Mickey Mitchell, Brad and Debra Catron, Brian and Peggy Mitchell, Karen and Kevin Neill, Steve and Miranda Jenkins, Tommy Jenkins, Bert Jenkins, Joe and Deana Bishop; children, Josh and Jenny Weldon, Bret and Jessie Steger, Jeremiah and Jamie Millwood, and Jacob and Hope Manderson; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mel's life will be held at 2:00 PM this afternoon (Thursday, May 19) in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur with Rev. Sercey Jackson and Rev. John Reiley officiating. In lieu of 6 Hooter's girls, Honorary Pallbearers will be Walter Couch, Kenny Tanner, Jim Bradley, Jerone Acuff, Todd Mitchell, John Lester, Richard Sisson, Scooter Shriver and Kevin Findley.
