Michael Robert Standish

Michael "Mike" Standish, 61, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Atlanta, GA.

Michael Robert Standish was born on September 16, 1964 in Belvidere, IL, to Robert Standish and Linda Standish (St. Clair).

Mike enjoyed a lifelong passion for pop culture and started collecting comic books as a child in Kentucky. He graduated from Marshall County High School in Benton, KY and went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Murray State University in 1986. After moving to Atlanta, Mike joined ACT UP Atlanta and was involved in a number of campaigns to expand access to care for people with AIDS and fight ignorance and discrimination against people living with HIV and LGBTQ folks. He graduated from Emory University School of Law in 1994, starting his career as an Attorney in 1998 and went on to practice law for 28 years.

Mike grew up loving dogs in Benton, KY and Atlanta, GA. He also enjoyed many trips to Alaska to fish salmon with his Dad and friends. Mike was happiest on the boat when dogs were included in the fishing trip; often sitting on his lap.

Michael is survived by his husband, Scott Caillier of Atlanta, father, Robert Standish, father's wife, Flower Phan, both of Kenai, AK and mother, Linda Cash, of Decatur, GA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Michael Standish on April 11th, 2026, at 4:30 pm at The Atlanta Friends Meeting House, 701 W. Howard Ave., Decatur, GA 30030.

Parking is limited, please carpool or take public Transit if possible. Business casual attire preferred.
