Michele Lee Holt, 80, of Marietta, Georgia-formerly of Decatur, Georgia-passed away on June 2, 2025, at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital after a courageous year-long battle with cancer.
Despite the odds, Michele's determination and strength were unwavering. With the support of her loving family, she overcame multiple medical challenges, including time in the ICU and long-term rehab, and made it back home last summer. Her greatest goal was to spend another Christmas with her family-and she did. That joyful time together will be forever cherished by those who loved her.
Michele was born on February 18, 1945, in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Herbert Erle Driggs and Rosemary Gatewood. She was raised in Roseville, Ohio, and later moved to the Lakewood neighborhood of Cleveland for high school. After graduating, she attended a women's college in Indiana.
Following college, Michele moved to San Diego, California, before ultimately settling in Atlanta in the late 1970s. It was in Atlanta that she met Tom Holt, whom she would go on to marry. Together, they built a life and raised two sons in Stone Mountain, Georgia. After Tom's untimely passing in 1997 due to complications from emphysema, Michele and her boys moved to Decatur, where she continued to provide a loving and stable home, and assisted in keeping Tom's family's business running which she would ultimately pass off to her sons.
Michele had a deep love for cooking and gardening and found great joy in spending time with her four grandchildren, who brought light and laughter to her life. She also had a remarkable spirit-determined, resilient, and full of quiet strength. Even during her final year, she defied the odds.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Kris) Holt and Riley (Mike) Holt; her daughters-in-law, Linsey Holt and Rebekah Holt; and her beloved grandchildren, Jackson, Addison, Lincoln, and Gavyn. She is also survived by her devoted partner, Fred Dupuis, whose companionship brought her much comfort and happiness in her later years.
