Miroslav Frantisek Hlavsa

It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we share the passing of Miroslav Frantisek Hlavsa.

Born 1940 in Poděbrady, Czechia (formerly Czechoslovakia), he was the son of the late Frantisek and Vlasta (nee Cmejrkova) Hlavsa. He earned his master's degree in electrical engineering in Prague. In 1968, following the Soviet invasion of Prague, Miroslav sought political refuge in the United States. He lived briefly in East Rutherford, NJ, before settling in Hanover Township, NJ. Miro spent many years working on mainframe computers for Wang Laboratories (working on accounts including Picatinny Arsenal, Exxon, Nabisco, and Warner Lambert). Upon retirement, he moved to Arizona, where he reunited with old friends, made new ones, and truly enjoyed life in the desert.

Miro was a passionate car enthusiast, a hobby reflected by the vehicles in his driveway and his time riding through desert trails with the Zuks of Arizona. He had a deep love for America. He also loved country music, line dancing, and karaoke.

Miro's life will be forever cherished by his loving daughters, Michele Hlavsa (husband Adolfo Menendez) and Marcella Wilson (husband Brett Wilson). His greatest joys were his three grandsons: Caleb, Henry, and Nicholas. He is also survived by extended family and many close friends.
