Listen to Obituary

Renee Houle passed away June 23rd after 65 years of living life to the absolute fullest. We say goodbye to a woman who refused to be summed up in a single sentence. She was a mom, an athlete, a teacher and a friend. The kind of person who made your life feel bigger just by being in it. Even though her life ended much too soon, Renee was able to live her life without regrets. It is impossible to describe Renee's effect on people and the world that she created around her, but she led by example and demonstrated what selfless care and love should look like.

At the center of her life was a love story that set the standard for everyone around her. For 43 years, she and Tom built a life full of laughter, loyalty and a kind of love that wasn't quiet. Together, they raised three kids who grew up with a front row seat to it all. Melissa, Clay, and Hanna never had to wonder what real love looks like, they saw it every day.

Being a mom that her children always wanted to be around was just one of her many accomplishments. She climbed mountains, played all games with a competitive zeal, and was later promoted to grandma, her favorite title.

Having moved many times in her life from California, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas as a child to Atlanta as an adult; Renee cultivated many friendships and left a legacy in each location. Her circle was big and her loyalty was unwavering. She brought people together for occasions big or small, always making those around her feel seen and cherished.

She leaves behind a legacy of love lived boldly and laughter shared freely. As a reminder to all of us: show up big, say it out loud, and never skip the margarita.

Renee Houle is survived by her husband Tom Houle; children Melissa Houle, Clay Houle and Hanna (Houle) Pitts; Granddaughter Brynn Pitts; Her sister Cindi (Baten) Camp and brother Doug Baten.

The memorial service will be held at 10am Tuesday June 30th at Ansley Golf Club.
