Norma K. Drake passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in Stone Mountain, Ga. She will join in heaven her beloved husband Bruce, her son Doug, and her devoted son in law, Dan Lindsay. Norma is survived by her two remaining children, Gwenn Lindsay of Stone Mountain GA, and Scott Drake (Dianna) of Richmond, Va. She is also survived by her grandsons, Jason Drake (Jenn), Matthew Drake, and Mitch Caudill (Katie) and great grandchildren, Jenna, Jackson, and Cora. Norma is also survived by her sister, Sybil Fisher, and five loving nieces and their families.
Norma was born in Shreveport, LA and raised in Bethesda, MD, but considered herself a lifelong Washingtonian. She was a huge fan of all the monuments and museums. She and her husband, Bruce lived in Bethesda, Richmond, VA, Ellicot City MD, and Hilton Head Island, SC. While in Hilton Head, she helped start a thrift store for St. Francis Church. In 2021, Norma moved to Park Springs in Stone Mountain to be closer to her daughter.
Norma was a master of many talents. She was an excellent cook, a great gardener, a charming hostess, and a smart dresser. She volunteered in her community and was a faithful member of the Catholic Church.
Norma will be missed by many for her beautiful smile, her quick wit, and graceful demeanor.
The Drake family would like to extend their gratitude toward the staff at Park Springs and Devia Campbell for their wonderful care of Norma in her final months.
A Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Oct.3, 2025 at The Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Atlanta, GA. The address is 2855 Briarcliff Rd. NE, Atlanta, GA. 30329. Streaming of the service will be available for those unable to attend on Facebook.com/IHMAtlanta.
Interment will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockville, MD at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Park Springs Employee Appreciation Fund" or to the "Park Springs Scholarship Fund", which provides college or technical school scholarships for employees and their children, through the Park Springs Foundation (a charitable 501C3 organization), 500 Park Springs Circle, Stone Mountain Georgia 30087 or to the charity of your choice.
