With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Olga Rivero, who peacefully entered eternal rest on July 14, 2026, in Decatur, Georgia, at the age of 91.
Born on February 2, 1935, in Cuba, Olga lived a life defined by unwavering love, resilience, faith, and devotion to her family. Proud of her Cuban heritage, she carried its traditions, values, and warmth wherever life took her, leaving an enduring impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
In 1969, seeking freedom from the oppression of communism in Cuba and the opportunity to build a better future for her family, Olga and her beloved husband, Ezequiel Jesus Rivero, made the courageous decision to leave their homeland with their two children and begin a new life in the United States. Like so many who sought liberty, they left behind everything they had known in search of hope and opportunity. Their journey eventually brought them to Georgia, where they established a home, raised their family, and created a lifetime of cherished memories.
Olga was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ezequiel Jesus Rivero, the love of her life and lifelong companion. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jose Padilla, Orlando Padilla, and Felipe Padilla.
Family was the greatest blessing of Olga's life. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Marlene Marquez, Janene Rutschilling, and Giraldo Rivero, who will forever cherish the unconditional love, wisdom, and guidance she so generously shared.
She was a devoted grandmother to Arlene Marquez; Jasen Rivero and Michael Rivero, who preceded her in death, and a proud great-grandmother to Gabriella Sturgis, Alejandro Sturgis, and Aiden Rivero. Nothing brought Olga greater happiness than spending time with her family and watching each new generation grow. Her love was constant, her home was welcoming, and her heart was always open.
Olga's faith was the foundation of her life. She was a devoted Catholic whose steadfast belief in God guided her through life's joys and hardships. Her faith gave her strength, hope, and peace, and she faithfully attended church throughout her life. She demonstrated her beliefs not only through prayer but also through the compassion, generosity, humility, and forgiveness she extended to others each day.
Those who knew Olga will remember her gentle spirit, quiet strength, generous heart, and remarkable kindness. She had a gift for making others feel cared for, accepted, and loved. Her compassion, humility, and unwavering faith were reflected not only in the way she lived but also in the countless lives she touched. She taught by example that true wealth is measured not by possessions, but by love, family, and the kindness we extend to others.
While our hearts grieve her absence, we find comfort in the beautiful memories she leaves behind. Her legacy will continue to live on in every family gathering, every shared story, every tradition passed from one generation to the next, and in the love that binds our family together. Her life was a shining example of perseverance, compassion, dignity, courage, and unconditional love.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a viewing on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia.

Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 3000 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA.
