Dr. Pamela (Pam) Vadman Ulrich, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Born on February 26, 1949, in Seattle, Washington, Pam lived a fulfilling life.
Pam was married to the love of her life, Bruno Ulrich, for 54 years. Together they built a life filled with devotion, family, and enduring partnership. They enjoyed traveling the world together and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father: Willard B. Vadman, and her mother: Ann Vadman.
She is survived by her husband: Bruno; her son: Preston Ulrich and his wife: Lee Anne Ulrich, their two daughters, Mary Lawrence (13), Adeline (10), and son Doc (7); her daughter: Lauren Baker and her husband: David Baker and their daughter Ramsay (6); her brother David Vadman and his wife Maureen Vadman; and her sister: Sue Vadman. Pam was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She cherished her family deeply.
Pam earned her degree in Apparel Merchandising from Oregon State University before continuing her education at Auburn University, where she received her master's degree in 1978. She later completed her Ph.D. at the University of Oregon before returning to Auburn in 1987, beginning what would become a distinguished and influential 44-year relationship with the university. Over the course of her career at Auburn University, Pam rose from assistant professor to full professor and ultimately served as Department Head of Consumer and Design Sciences within Auburn University's College of Human Sciences.
Pam devoted her life to education, leadership, and service, leaving behind a lasting legacy for the many students, colleagues, and friends whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable life. Pam believed deeply in the importance of listening to others, treating everyone with dignity, and fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect. Pam will be remembered not only for her extraordinary accomplishments as an educator and academic leader, but also for the grace, compassion, and integrity with which she lived her life. Her influence will continue to be felt among all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family is planning Celebration of Life ceremonies in Auburn and Atlanta this summer.
