Pamela Ann Cook Wood, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, in Decatur, Georgia, at the age of 79. She was born on August 15, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois.

Pam devoted her life to caring for others through her more than 50-year career as a Respiratory Therapist, Pulmonary Function Technician, and Sleep Study Technician. She graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy, and began her career at Emory Hospital. Over the years, she worked at Georgia Baptist Hospital and Grady Memorial Hospital, and she headed the Respiratory Therapy Departments at University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, and at Tanner Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, Georgia.

Pam went on to work in the neonatal care unit at Egleston Hospital, and then she specialized in performing Pulmonary Function Tests and Sleep Studies on young children at Egleston/Scottish Rite/Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Pam not only cared for patients, but also trained countless students and colleagues. She dedicated many years to working with babies and small children, bringing comfort and healing to the smallest and most fragile patients.

Later in her career, Pam transitioned to performing Sleep Studies on adults at Wellstar Douglasville and Wellstar Kennestone hospitals, until her retirement.

Pam's legacy lives on through her family: her daughters, Dina Lynn Wood O'Quinn and Elizabeth Dawn Wood Wikle; sons-in-law David O'Quinn and John Wikle; and her grandsons, William O'Quinn, Caleb Wikle, and Xan Wikle; her sister, Vicki Cook Hanna; her niece Jennifer Hanna Snow and husband Stephen Snow, and their children, Collin and Nicholas Snow; her nephew John Hanna and wife Hannah Hanna, and their daughter Norah. Pam was preceded in death by her father, Donald Ross Cook, Sr.; her mother, Evelyn Buist Cook; her brother, Donald Ross Cook, Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Samanda Jeude.

Pam will be remembered for her intelligence, her strong work ethic, her devotion to her patients, friends, and family, and her willingness to share her knowledge with others. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched, both personally and professionally. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
