Panagiota (Toula) Hatteras, age 97, of Atlanta passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025. She was born in Greece on Easter Sunday, April 16, 1928, in a small community town in Amaliada called Roviata and is the oldest daughter of Athanasios and Eugenia Apostolopoulou. The family moved to Pireaus, Greece during her childhood. Panagiota then emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1956 and later met and married her husband of 14 years, Anthony Hatteras in Columbus, Georgia. A few years later they established their permanent residence across the street from the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Atlanta, Georgia. Panagiota (Toula) and her husband owned and operated a popular drycleaning business called Glenco Cleaners for many years.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony Hatteras. She is also predeceased by her brother, Vasilios Apostolopoulou; sister, Maria Apostolopoulou of Pireaus, Greece; and nephew, Steve Angelo Moraitakis.

She is survived by a large loving family: her sisters Theoni Apostolis and Lemonia Moraitakis; nieces Helen Apostolis Maragos, Jane Apostolis Lekas, and Jane Moraitakis Lamas; nephew Athanasios Apostolis; great nieces Elizabeth Maragos, Angela Maragos and Paige Apostolis; and great nephews Alexander Lekas, Alexander Lamas, and Stefanos Lamas.

Panagiota (Toula) was very active throughout her life in the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation. She loved baking and volunteering for the Atlanta Greek Festival. Everyone knew to find Toula tirelessly working in the pastry section of the festival.

She will always be remembered for her complete devotion to family and sweet, kind giving spirit.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, 11:00 am at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, Atlanta. The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation.
