Patricia Proto passed away February 19, 2026, at her home in Tucker Georgia. She was 78 years old. Born in 1947 in Augusta Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lorene Rowland Proto and Rocco James "Rocky" Proto. She was a graduate of Richmond Academy High School, where she was a Band Majorette After high school she started her federal civil service career at Fort Gordon (now Fort Eisenhower) Georgia. She later took a promotion serving in Vietnam during the war. Upon returning to Georgia, she resigned from civil service and became a full time college student at Augusta College (now Augusta University) After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (BBA), she returned to federal service with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Athens Georgia. Her federal service career progressed to positions in Atlanta Georgia at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Patricia also continued her academic education and sat for and passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examinations to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Patricia is survived by her ex-husband Dennis Durick, sister, Sylvia Proto, and first cousins: Donald Creech, Joe Jones, Beth Rowland Overstreet, Mike Rowland, and Tommy Rowland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her half-brother, Richard Frederick Proto and his wife Carol Anne.
Internment was handled by A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur, Georgia.
Burial was at Lakeside Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, Palmetto Georgia
