Patricia Summerville

Patricia Hunter Summerville, 92 of Decatur, Georgia passed away on July 28, 2026. A native of Decatur and graduate of Winona Park Elementary and Decatur (Girls) High School, she was preceded by her husband Don Noble Summerville and youngest son James Allen (Jim) Summerville. She is survived by her oldest son Scott Summerville and his wife Jackie and Jim's wife Gayle Summerville along with three grandchildren Lee Summerville, Anna Hillyer Summerville and Samantha Summerville plus two great grandchildren Elliot Summerville and Avery Summerville.

Patricia was the only child of Allen and Mamie Hunter and during her childhood she enjoyed the full love and attention of her parents and of her extended Hunter and Morgan families. The family home was across the street from her fathers feed and seed mill at the corner of South Columbia Drive and East College avenue and as a child she enjoyed traveling with her father to call on customers across North Georgia.

She met her husband Don just prior to his deployment to The Korean War and after a long distance romance they were married at the Decatur First Methodist Church upon his return from Korea and until his passing. Patricia worked for years as a drafter and planner in the Dekalb County planning department until the birth of her sons when she became a full time homemaker.

Patricia and Don raised their sons in Decatur and later in Lilburn Georgia and upon Don's retirement they split time between the Atlanta area and Crescent Beach, Florida where they enjoyed life and the pleasure of many close friends. They were also lifelong avid travelers and entertainers and always made time for vacations and hosting social gatherings.

They were active members of the First Methodist Church in Decatur, Columbia Presbyterian Church in Decatur and The Memorial Presbyterian Church in St Augustine, Florida. Later in Life Patricia was also a regular online participant in The Hartwell First Methodist Church in Hartwell, Georgia.

A graveside service will be held on August 8, 2026 at 12:30pm at the Decatur City Cemetery ( 229 Bell Street, Decatur, Georgia 30030) followed by a reception from from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Cafe Lilly in Decatur (308 B W. ponce De LeonAve, Decatur GA 30030)

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Bowers Fund of the Hartwell First Methodist Church in Hartwell Georgia (200 E. Howell St., Hartwell Georgia 30643). Condolences may be sent to Patricia Summerville's family at 479 Collins Road, Lavonia Georgia 30553.
