Patrick Oliver, 74, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 11, 2026. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, leaving behind a legacy defined by kindness, dedication, and an enduring zest for life.
Born to Floyd and Kathryn Oliver, Patrick was raised with strong values that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in 1971 and went on to build a long and respected career with General Motors. A dedicated and hardworking employee, Patrick devoted many years to the company before retiring in 1999, earning the admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Above all else, Patrick was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband to his wife, Sharon, and a caring and supportive father to his sons Ken (Laura) and Tony. He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Carli, Aidan, and Hunter, who brought him immense joy. Patrick was also a compassionate brother to Sharon (Larry), Patti (Charles), and Mary, and a supportive uncle to many nieces and nephews who treasured his presence in their lives.
Patrick had a vibrant personality and a deep love for the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid bowler who found both joy and friendship on the lanes. A passionate sports fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams-the Michigan Wolverines, the Detroit Tigers, and the Detroit Lions. Whether celebrating victories or enduring losses, Patrick's enthusiasm and loyalty never wavered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Kathryn Oliver; his brother, Michael Oliver; and his beloved son, Tony Oliver. Though these events were life-changing, Patrick continued to live with warmth, generosity, and resilience, always putting family first.
Patrick will be remembered for his generous spirit, his unwavering support for those he loved, and the genuine joy he brought into every room. His laughter, kindness, and love of life will be deeply missed but forever cherished by his family and friends.
A life so beautifully lived leaves behind a lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Afterglow
By Helen Lowrie Marshall
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
