Paul Alton Smith

Chairman of the Finance Committee, and as a teacher of Sunday School classes for over 35 years. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sarah Vaughan Smith; two children David and wife Judy Smith of Rome Georgia, Anne and husband Charles Moore of Milledgeville, Georgia; grandchildren Colin Moore, Jason and wife Yumi Smith, Jennifer and husband Jeff Thornton, Shannon and husband Warren Darby, Jessica Smith, Joy and husband Sam Widman; three great grandchildren, Taylor Darby, Jacob Thornton, and Zachary Widman; and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Decatur, Wednesday, July 1st at 2:00 PM, Rev. Julie Pennington-Russell and Dr. Peter Rhea Jones officiating.  Interment Decatur Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church of Decatur, “Free the Dream” offering.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30th from 6 to 8 PM at A. S. Turner and Sons and on Wednesday from 1 until the hour of service at the church.
