Paul Rice

Paul Hobson Rice, 73, of Decatur, GA. passed away peacefully with family around him July 02, 2025, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA, He was born January 07, 1952, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA. to Marion Hobson and Louise Rice.

He lived in the Atlanta area most all of his life. Paul had broad interests from movies to sports, but family was by far the most important to him. He loved the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs and followed them religiously. Paul knew every James Bond movie backwards and forwards, loved whittling canes to sell, played the Kazoo with a passion, and enjoyed countless outings with his friends at Clairmont Place!

Most importantly he was an incredible and loving son to his mom. He kept in close contact with many cousins, keeping the family together. He always wanted to know how his nephews and their families were doing.

Paul is preceded in death by his father, Marion Hobson Rice "Hobby", his sister, Rosalyn Rice Corriher, and sister-in-law Valerie Rice (Bob).

He is survived by his mother, Louise Rice; brothers, David Rice (Carol) and Bob Rice; nephews, Ryan Rice (Kelli), John Rice (Lauren), and Mike Codi (Angelina); niece Melissa Rice Reome (Patrick); great nephews, Baxley and Jackson Rice and great niece, Phoebe Rice, and great nephews Dominick and Aaron. He also had many cousins with whom he was very close.

Family and friends will gather from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2025, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, 2773 N. Decatur Rd. Decatur, GA 30033. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory. A private graveside service will be held in Macland Cemetery in Powder Springs, GA.
