Paul Randall Timmons, 80, passed away on June 14th, 2023, at Ascension St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, following several months of long-term care at West Meade Place in Nashville.
Paul was born January 5, 1943, in Decatur, Georgia, to the late Myron Theodore Timmons and Dorothy Scott Timmons. After graduating from Decatur High School in 1961, Paul went on to attend and graduate from Young Harris College in 1963. From there, he attended Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee, and afterward was employed by "The Upper Room", a publication of the Board of Discipleship of the Methodist Church. Several years later, he was hired by Opryland for the Guest Services Department, and spent the remainder of his working years in their employ, retiring in 2005.
Although Paul was a Georgian by birth, he loved Nashville, and chose to remain there after retirement. He greatly enjoyed anticipating and attending gatherings celebrating events and reunions of family and friends, whether in Nashville, Tennessee; Decatur, Georgia; Young Harris College; Eastvale, California; and/or St. Mary's, Georgia. He most especially enjoyed the get-togethers of his former Decatur High School friends, Young Harris and Scarritt friends and/or any occasion involving his two nephews and his great-niece. Although Paul had cerebral palsy, he continued to engage in as many outings and activities as he possibly could, and when it became impossible for him to travel, he joined in with others via electronic means, the last of which was on April 22nd of this year, with friends from his Decatur High School class, as they celebrated their 80th birthdays together.
Paul is survived by his brother, John Timmons (Glenda), of St. Mary's, Georgia, nephew, Michael Timmons (Kjersti), and great-niece, Charlotte Timmons, of Eastvale, California, and nephew, Geoffrey Timmons, of St. Mary's, Georgia, together with numerous cousins and their families on the maternal Scott side of his family.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Myron Theodore Timmons and Dorothy Scott Timmons; paternal grandparents, Clarence P. and Anna Timmons and maternal grandparents, Mary and Raymond Scott.
