Listen to Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" Richardson, 78, of Roswell, Georgia died peacefully in her sleep on January 30th, 2026, with her husband, Vic, and both children, Laura Sheridan (Adam) and Scott Richardson, by her side. Born in Louisville, Kentucky on August 8, 1947, the only child of Helen and Lloyd Lamb, Becky graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in early childhood education. Becky met Vic, her husband of 56 years, on a blind date and married two years later.

After several moves with Vic's work with General Electric, she and her family were among the first to move onto their street in Roswell, Georgia in 1983. There she eagerly welcomed each new family that moved in, forming lifetime friendships and fostering community by regularly gathering around their fire pit, hosting Secret Suppers and Kentucky Derby parties, hanging out at the neighborhood pool, and playing across the card table.

After being a stay-at-home mom until her two children started school, Becky began working as an assistant at Woodland Elementary School where she remained until retiring 31 years later. There she impacted the lives of students and staff alike and was recognized as Fulton County's Assistant of the Year, honoring her outstanding service and dedicated support role.

After retirement, she and her husband traveled together and finished visiting all 50 states. She culminated her travels at the beginning of this year on a week-long cruise with her husband, children, and all 9 grandchildren.

Closer to home, Becky enjoyed hand making greeting cards in her home studio, sending those cards with thoughtful notes, knitting dishcloths and finding excuses to share them with others, reading, playing Wordl and Connections, playing Canasta and other card games with her family and friends, participating in annual family reunions, and especially gathering with her family to celebrate their birthdays and other holidays.

Roswell United Methodist Church has been her church home for 43 years where she was a faithful member of the Crosstalk Sunday School class and served as its treasurer for the last 15 years. Additionally, she was a member of the sanctuary choir and then Prime Time Singers.

Becky never met a stranger and forged connections with people the world over. Frugal yet generous, she looked for and found the good in others and developed a vast network of friends who became family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roswell United Methodist Church chapel. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services, and a reception will immediately follow in the parlor. A private burial will follow at a later date in Middlesboro, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to St. Jude's Children's Research hospital, a charity Becky herself supported, and help improve the lives of others diagnosed with the cancers she cheerfully and courageously battled.
