Listen to Obituary

Robert "Bob" Niles Burkett, 81, from Lilburn went to his eternal home with God on September 13, 2025. He was born on March 16, 1944. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Bess. He is survived by their only daughter Kelly Anne Guerriero and her husband Chris, brother-in-law William Buckhalt (Lynn), nephew, Eric Buckhalt, niece, Celeste Jackson (Jason), great nephew, Tyler Jackson and great nieces, Madeline and Savannah Jackson.

Bob was a second-generation Atlanta native and lived in Lilburn since 1976. He was a graduate of Bass High School in Atlanta, a University of Georgia graduate and member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. Additionally, he was a member of the Georgia Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church. Bob was an entrepreneur and was the owner of Old Sport Golf in Doraville for many years. In addition to golfing he was an avid hunter and fisherman and won numerous awards at shooting competitions.

Bob never met a stranger or a cat he didn't like. He loved to travel, loved music and dancing, the ocean and beach and always had a joke to share. He was a generous, kind person, loyal friend, loving and devoted husband and a wise, supportive, patient, fun and all-around best dad.

The visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at Smoke Rise Baptist Church Sanctuary. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 5th, 2025, also at Smoke Rise Baptist Church. There will be no burial service.

Donations can be made to the Cure PSP organization to help diagnose, treat and find a cure for this rare incurable disease that impacted the last years of Bob's life. http://www.psp.org
