Robert Patrick Du Chanois, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Robert (Bob) was born in Montrose, Colorado. His early years were spent in Jacksonville, Florida, where he graduated from Bishop Kenny High School in 1961. He went on to attend the University of Florida, graduating in 1966. While there, he was a member of the ROTC program.
Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, including a year in Vietnam. Later, he was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Ultimately, Bob received an Honorable Discharge as a Captain from the United States Army in September 1975, after serving in the United States Army Reserve.
Bob moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the early 1970s and was employed by Trust Company of Georgia, later moving to employment with several different mortgage lending companies, lastly with American Home Mortgage. He had a thirty-year successful career as a mortgage loan officer, having received his Master of Business Administration degree from Georgia State University in 1972.
Bob spent hours outdoors enjoying landscaping, gardening, birdwatching, and simply appreciating the beauty surrounding him. Times spent with family and friends at his cabins in Blue Ridge held cherished memories. And then there were his favorite times at the beach, whether Jacksonville, Panama City Beach, or California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Eckerdt Du Chanois and Francis Robert Du Chanois; his youngest son, Matthew Du Chanois; and sibling Kathleen Du Chanois.
Surviving loved ones include his loving wife, Clare Bangs; son Miles (Leslie) Du Chanois; granddaughters Aslyn Du Chanois and Kai Sampere; sisters Jeannette Rodelli and Margaret Du Chanois; brothers James (Susan) Du Chanois, Larry Du Chanois, and Greg (Erin) Du Chanois. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Heartfelt thanks is given to our friend and nurse, Nancy Lawhorn, and Longleaf Hospice and Palliative Care for the excellent care they gave my precious husband.
Bob will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place later. Location and time will be available on A.S. Turner and Sons' website.
