Ruth Ernestine Thompson

Ruth E. Chewning Thompson, age 91, of Decatur died Tuesday, July 30, 2019. Mrs. Thompson was a DeKalb County, Georgia native. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters; Shirley Wilson and Dianne (Ronnie) Lucas, her brother; W. R. “Billy” Chewning, her grandchildren; Ted Wilson and Mark (Wanda) Swords, her great-grandchildren; Justin & Amber Wilson and Taylor & Hunter Swords, her great-great-grandchildren; Wyatt & Bailey Howington and Madison Bulman, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, A V “Pappy” Thompson. Funeral services will be held, Friday, August 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Frank Mabry officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home.
