Sara Malone Blackstock

Sara Malone Blackstock, a resident of Decatur for 50 years, died August 30, 2004 at the age of 99. She worked for Southern Bell for 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Baron DeKalb Chapter of DAR, a member of the Emory Auxiliary, and Decatur First United Methodist Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thad and Jane Blackstock; grandchildren, Thad and Susan Blackstock, Decatur, Dr. Stephen and Karen Blackstock, Gadsden, Alabama; six great grandchildren, Aubrey and Reid Blackstock, Decatur, GA and Lauren, Stephen, Jr., Sam and Sarah Blackstock of Gadsden, Alabama. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Decatur Cemetery, Rev. Dana Overton-Garrett officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
