Sarah A. Slusher

March 20, 1937 - July 12, 2025

Sarah Ann Slusher passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88. Born in Adair, Illinois, on March 20, 1937, to Ralph and Geneva Chadderdon, Sarah's life was marked by a deep commitment to education, faith, service, and family. She earned her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Illinois University on a full scholarship, graduating in just four years. In 1960, she married the love of her life, Kendall K. Slusher. Sarah began her career as an elementary school teacher, a role she held until 1971 when she chose to devote herself fully to raising her four children and giving back to her community through volunteer work. In the years that followed, she also became a vital presence in the lives of her grandchildren, caring for and nurturing them over the past 25 years. A devoted member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucker, Georgia, for 48 years, Sarah gave generously of her time and talents. She taught children's Sunday School and was an enthusiastic participant in the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, 39ers, Church at Prayer, Presbyterian Women, and the Bridge Club. Sarah found joy in music, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and the company of dear friends and family. Her legacy is one of love, service, and quiet strength. She is survived by her son, Brian Slusher; daughters, Laura Papotto and Anne Thomas; and their families, including seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kendall, and her son, Kent Slusher. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Tucker, Georgia, with a reception to follow in Heffner Hall. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sarah's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church or to a charity of your choice.
