Sharon Lynn Kollasch, a beloved member of the Decatur, Georgia community, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on February 3, 1946, in Rapid City, South Dakota, Sharon's journey through life was marked by remarkable achievements, enduring love, and an unwavering passion for knowledge and the arts.
Sharon earned her bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota before continuing her academic pursuits at UCLA, where she obtained a master's degree in mathematics. Her career began with Pacific Telephone in Santa Barbara, California, where her talents flourished. She later moved to New Jersey and Manhattan, eventually settling in Atlanta, Georgia, where she became a distinguished District Manager for AT&T, culminating a fulfilling career that spanned several decades until her retirement in 1992.
An avid reader and writer, Sharon was deeply passionate about literature, often immersing herself in the worlds crafted by her favorite authors. Her love for music was equally profound; she enjoyed playing classic piano and found joy in expressing herself through the art of sound. A dedicated sports enthusiast, she passionately supported her favorite teams and shared her love of the game with those around her.
In 1981, Sharon met her life partner, Kathryn Miller, in Atlanta, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and companionship for an incredible 44 years. Their bond served as an inspiration to many, showcasing a love that transcended time and circumstance.
Sharon is survived by her loving partner, Kathryn, her sister Carmen Pelland, as well as a community of friends and family who will forever cherish her memory and the indelible mark she left on their lives.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Margaret Kollasch and a sister Gayle Erickson.
