Shirley Rose Bradley Chapman of Atlanta, Georgia left Earth to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025 in her home in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 91. She was born on August 12, 1934 in Chattanooga, Tennessee and skipped a grade to graduate early before working as a secretary while saving to pursue her real passion- Nursing. Shirley attended Georgia Baptist College where she earned her Registered Nurse Certification. She later achieved her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Emory University before serving as the first head nurse of Emory's Intensive Care Unit upon its opening. Shirley served diligently in this role for 12 years before being promoted to Director of Nursing for the remainder of her nursing career. Shirley was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, and enjoyed caring for others, Travel, Roses, Dove Chocolates, and all things pink. Her sharp mind, servant's heart, strong work ethic, and compassionate nature led Shirley to become a pioneer in the nursing field, and a pillar of strength and kindness to all who loved, knew, or even encountered her.

She is survived by her brother Michael Bradley (Chris), nephews John-Paul Bradley (Anna) and Patrick Bradley (Jackie), Nieces Liz Bradley and Helen Shaw, great-nephews Max Bradley , Tom Bradley, and William Bradley, great-nieces Ashley Gardner (Jeremy), Zoe Bradley, and Maggie Bradley, and great-great nieces, Faith Artherton, Rose Archer, Aria Gardner,Mia Bradley, Kinsley Gardner, Violet Bradley and lifelong friend and daughter figure Tara Ernst.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Chapman, father Paul Byrd Bradley, mother Nora Lee Bradley, her sister Jean York, half-sister Wanelle Shaw, brother Ray(Aziel) Bradley, half-brother Harold Burgess , and nephews Lt. Commander Alan Bradley and Colby Shaw, and lifelong friend Inez Ernst.

Her funeral will be held at Arlington Memorial Park on October 22, 2025 at 1pm. Address: 201 Mt. Vernon Highway NW, Sandy Springs, Georgia 30328
