Lt. Colonel Stanley William Jaynes (Bud), beloved husband, father, grandfather, and servant of God, was promoted to Glory after a lifetime marked by unwavering faith, steadfast integrity, and sacrificial service.
Born to Salvation Army officers Lt. Colonels C.W. and Katie Jaynes, Bud was raised in the mission field of The Salvation Army. He joyfully embraced that calling for himself, serving with his devoted wife, Lt. Colonel Jean Jaynes, in ministry for more than 39 years. Together, they were commissioned in 1964 as part of the "Heroes of the Faith" session and faithfully ministered across the United States and the Caribbean.
Bud served in a wide range of leadership roles, including Corps Officer, editorial assistant for The War Cry, Divisional Financial Secretary, Divisional Secretary, and Divisional Commander. In 1993, he was appointed the Southern Territorial Business Administrator, where he brought strength, strategy, and spiritual wisdom to the stewardship of resources. His sharp mind and deep integrity left a lasting mark on the Army's systems of financial management, training and mentoring officers, and staff alike in both fiscal leadership and servant-hearted ministry.
After his official retirement, Bud continued to serve with joy and purpose-offering his expertise in the Southern Territorial Finance Department and accepting post-retirement service in the Caribbean, and São Paulo, Brazil. Whether serving in the Caribbean or in South America, he remained deeply committed to the mission, offering both administrative insight and pastoral care with humility and grace.
A gifted teacher and preacher, Bud brought the Word of God to life with depth and tenderness. His Bible studies were rich with insight and humility, and his sermons invited listeners to encounter Scripture not just with understanding, but with reverence. Generations of Salvationists were shaped by his example of holy living.
He often encouraged those around him to be "God's happy, holy, healing people," a phrase he not only preached but lived-with gentleness, joy, and grace.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lt. Colonel Jean Jaynes, and their four children:
He also leaves behind a vibrant legacy of grandchildren:

He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sandy Jaynes, and a large extended family who carry his light and love forward.
