Mr. Stephen Andrew Green of Stone Mountain, Georgia died at home on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
Mr. Green was a 1981 graduate of Dalton High School in Dalton, Georgia. He joined the Navy immediately after graduation. He served for four years as an E3 Mess Management Specialist on the USS Guam as the ship transported Marines and Seals to Beirut, Lebanon and Grenada in 1983. At the end of four years, he left active service and continued to serve his country in the Active Reserves for another four years.
Mr. Green was an accomplished baker who worked at the Stouffer Waverly Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia before moving on to Nashville, Tennessee where, in Davidson County he served in the County Sheriff’s Department for four years. He then resumed his career as a baker at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. His favorite pastime was making wedding cakes to order.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his father Dr. David C. Green, D.C., and his younger brother Cayce Paul Feyer. He is survived by his mother Dianne Schread of Stone Mountain and his two older brothers David Mark Green and his wife Dianne of Bremen, Georgia and Paul Herschel Green and his wife Cindy of Acworth,Georgia, and nephews Jonathan Green, Andrew Skipper, Kevin Green and nieces Britney Collins and Amanda Green, and second cousin Thomas Serman, who helped with his home care and transportation to his medical appointments.
A Memorial Service will be held at A.S. Turner & Sons, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia 30033 on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Martin Barlow officiating and Rev. Larry Temple Burgess will be assisting.
