It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Susan Elaine Nail Travelstead on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at her home in Auburn, Georgia. She has gained her wings and is now able to walk with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Charles Edward Travelstead (In Susan, Ed Travelstead found his future and his wife of 45 years. "To Him, she was far more precious than jewels and his heart trusted her." (Proverbs 31)); her children: Jerry Michael Travelstead (Vandy), Angela Dawn Madsen (Brian), and Andy Ryan Travelstead; step-sons: Charles Edward Travelstead III (Pam) and Michael Dallas Travelstead (Amy); grandchildren: Austin and Landon Madsen; Addison Travelstead, Savannah and Mary Grace Owens; Blake, Kyle, Brock, Hayden, and Grant Travelstead; sister: Cheryl Nail Spain (Terry); brother-in-law: Tim Swymer, and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving parents (William Ralph Nail and Etta Louise Bunn Nail) and her sisters: Janice Nail Garner (Larry Garner) and LuAnn Nail Swymer.
Susan was born on March 27, 1951 in McDonough, Georgia. She was a 1969 graduate of Gordon High School, Decatur, Georgia. Susan was a dedicated mother, first and foremost. She loved her husband and cherished her children and grandchildren. She embraced every moment with them and always put them first. She instilled in her children strong values that have served them well and a love that has and will continue to carry them through all of their lives. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Susan, being a kidney transplant recipient, believed in the research conducted by Emory University Hospital. She therefore donated her body to Emory in support of their fight against disease.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 1:00PM in the Chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home 2773 N. Decatur Rd. Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
