In memory of Ted Waters, born September 19, 1951, and departed from us on January 21, 2024.
Ted was a brother to Kenny and Dallas, growing up next to the funeral home their father operated in North Carolina. The two things he loved most - nature and the environment - led him to the National Park Service where he worked for many years as a ranger and then as a resource specialist. He was rarely without a canine companion and was a consulting dog whisperer to many in the neighborhood.
Married to Anne in 1981, they shared a love of life, travel and friends.
Two of Ted's talents were swimming and coaching, which influenced him to become President of the Avondale Estates Swim and Tennis Club. He worked in support of both the lake and tree canopy in Avondale. Ted devoted time, energy, and talent to a Dekalb County women's shelter, recruiting volunteers from his extensive group of friends. He was the proud owner of a Big Green Egg and a competitive grill master. And hell on wheels on Anne's Vespa.
Ted supported the Atlanta Braves and could be found with a somewhat boisterous crew out in the cheap seats at the old Fulton County Stadium (they were also known to frequent the Trackside). He could give a running commentary on almost any sports broadcast if you didn't mind a bit of bias.
Ted's many friends and acquaintances remember the good times and the joy he found in making friends and telling tales.
