Teddy Lee Penrod, age 82, passed away on June 18, 2026, at his home in Avondale Estates, Georgia. He was born in 1943 in Dongola, Illinois.
Immediately after high school, Ted proudly joined and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Springfield, USS Bainbridge, and the USS Charles F. Adams. After the Navy, he began a long career at Delta Air Lines as an Internal Auditor, where he worked for more than 40 years. While working full time and raising a young family, he also earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Georgia State University. Throughout his life, he gave generously to his community, serving in many roles including Little League coach, church deacon, and treasurer for the local American Legion.
Ted had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed all kinds of hunting, but particularly anything that flew. This led to a passion for gun collecting and reloading, to which he grew quite the collection over the years. One of his favorites fishing adventures was salmon fishing in Alaska, where he traveled around 25 times. He enjoyed the time spent outdoors and shared that passion with those around him, including organizing and running a fishing tournament for the local kids in Avondale for several years.
He also enjoyed traveling, reading (to which he has several published articles), and cooking.
Ted is survived by his wife, Jean of 34 years; brother Jerry Penrod (Gloria); son Barry Penrod (Gloria); daughter Marlyn Parker (Brad); step-sons Daniel Pulliam (Lauren) and Jordan Pulliam; grandchildren Chris, Chad, Caleb, Cara, Sam, Max, and Ella; and great-grandchildren Maggie, Parker, and JR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Hazel Penrod; brother Bill Penrod; sister Peggy Bradley; and his first wife, Janice.
