Thomas Walker Alvis, 77, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Atlanta, GA, following a brief illness.

Tom was born on October 22, 1948, in Griffin, GA, to Edward Alvis and Vauneda (née Walker) Alvis.

He graduated from Griffin High School in 1966 and went on to earn a BBA in Accounting from the University of Georgia in 1970. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1970-1976 and began his career as a CPA. Over the next 40 years, he worked with numerous organizations, concluding his professional career at DASH LaGrange.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Ann; his daughters, Angie (Rob) Lovein of Nashville and Margo (Steven) Mathis of Nashville; his sons, Dwayne (Julie) Alvis of Peachtree Corners, Craig McCorvey of Swannanoa, NC, and Scott (Laura) Alvis of Peachtree Corners; and his sister, Fay Nolen.

Above all, Tom cherished his role as "Papa" to his 11 grandchildren: Carson McCorvey, Mary Alvis-Johnson (Antwan), Tripp Lovein (Halleigh), Riley Caron, Caroline (Clay) Peters, Mattie Mae Mathis, Rowan Mathis, Sarah Alvis, Matthew Alvis, Andrew Alvis, and Bennett Alvis.

Tom was best known as a man of deep faith who was an active member of Mt. Paran Church of God, First Baptist on the Square, and Callaway Baptist Church. He was always willing to serve wherever there was a need-whether coordinating parking and traffic, participating in a prison ministry, or serving as a Deacon. To friends and family, he was a light-hearted confidant who could listen to any trouble just as easily as he could deliver a well-timed practical joke.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Vauneda Alvis, and his brothers, Fred and Sam Alvis.

A service honoring Mr. Thomas Alvis will be held on Saturday, December 6th, at 1:00 PM, at Callaway Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that memorial donations may be made in Tom's name to United Military Care, 1220 Old Canton Road, Marietta, GA, or to the Callaway Baptist Church Building Fund, 310 John Lovelace Rd, LaGrange, GA 30241.
